A Captivating Turkish Poetry Recital by Year 6

Last week, our Year 6 students took centre stage and truly captivated us all with an enchanting Turkish poetry recital. Inviting their parents and the school community, they brought to life powerful and beautiful verses centred on the evocative themes of “Island and Child.”

It was a magical afternoon where words painted vivid pictures of nature—the endless sea, the peaceful shores, and the innocent wonder of childhood. Each student shared carefully chosen lines in Turkish, showcasing not only their growing language skills but also their deep connection to the poetry’s imagery and emotion. The children’s performances sparkled with authenticity, bringing a fresh and heartfelt voice to our shared stories.

Behind this beautiful showcase was a fantastic collaboration between our Turkish Department and Art teachers, who transformed the stage into a visual delight that perfectly complemented the heartfelt recitals. Their dedication and creativity set a warm, inviting atmosphere that made the night all the more memorable.

Bravo to every Year 6 student who took part and to our teachers who guided them. Events like these fill us with pride and inspire us all to appreciate the richness of language and culture right in our midst, our island of Cyprus.

Stay tuned for next week’s update, when we’ll dive into more performances from around our school. Until then, keep celebrating the incredible talents and unique voices that make our community so special!
