What is the FIRST®LEGO®League?
The FIRST Lego League introduces STEAM learning to stududetns at a very early age. STEAM combines Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths., to introduce real-world problems for children to learn about and solve, and this year, the theme is 'Super Powered'.
STUDENTS HAVE THE POWER TO BUILD A BETTER FUTURE!
Over the weeks leading to the exhibition, students worked together in teams, using their creativity, critical-thinking and coding skills to design and programme their very own 3D renewable energy models, using Lego Education technology. Examples include wind-turbines, solar panels and charging stations.
Mert Balın, our STEAM specialist and the Director of the Happy Learning Individuals Centre said:
" We are proud to be partners with this fair and organize an international event in Cyprus that contributes to the development of children's science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics, coding, design, 3D thinking, research, inquiry and presentation skills and help them grow up as productive and sensitive world citizens. We would like to thank all our supporters who have contributed to this first and only international program where the children living on our island can represent themselves together with their peers in the world."
Year 3 Exhibition
Last week, Year 3 students displayed their 3D renewable energy models and presented their research to our special observers and wonderful parents. We were very proud to see so many imaginative ideas come to life with a lot of hard work and great teamwork.
It was a remarkable event enjoyed by all! These smiles say it all ...
Year 4 Exhibition
Our Year 4 engineers went one step further to design buildings and objects that link to their renewable energy sources, such as a moving cable car, a house and even a skate park.
A very impressive variety of ideas and creations from such young students.
Well done Year 3 and 4 !
