KEEPING EACHOTHER & OUR ESK COMMUNITY SAFE!

COVID-19 & LEARNING

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020, the return of schools worldwide will be unlike any other in history.  As ESK returns to face-to-face teaching for the 2020-21 Academic year, our priority is ensuring the safety and well-being of our entire ESK community, including students, staff and parents. We are committed to providing the best possible learning environment and experience for our students, both academically and pastorally.

We wish you, your families and communities all the best through these unusual and challenging times. Keep safe!

IMPACT ON LEARNING

Due to the current COVID-19 situation and the continuation of  lockdowns globally, we recognise that some students are still at a disadvantage. Many are still unable to fly back to Cyprus and others are living with vulnerable family members.  However, our teachers are prepared to support these students temporarily learning from home.

We have extensive contingency plans should it be necessary for students to learn at a distance, whether it be due to individual circumstances or in the case of another local lockdown. Three learning scenarios have been planned; face-to-face leaching (where the School campus is fully open), Blended-learning (a  rotational in-school and online learning scenario where students will be separated into groups, and assigned a mix of face-to-face and online teaching for the 5 day week) and Online Learning (where schools are physically closed and remote teaching takes place) At ESK, we strive to provide a seamless learning environment and experience for our students.  ESK is developing a hybrid, flexible learning program that will enable both in-classroom and online learning.

3 LEARNING SCENARIOS

FACE-TO-FACE TEACHING

(School is fully open - in-school learning)

BLENDED LEARNING

(in school and online learning rotations)

ONLINE LEARNING

(School is physically closed and remote teaching takes place)

ESK HEALTH & SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
ACROSS CAMPUS

As we navigate the current pandemic, ESK is confident and ready to welcome students back on campus for face-to-face teaching. A lot of planning and preparation has taken place to ensure your child's education is not interrupted by these unforeseen circumstances.

Health & Safety rules and measures continue to remain around campus, as  part of our students' everyday lives during this pandemic.

Measures to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 include:

Strategically placed Hand-sanitizing stations (and reminders for regular and thorough hand cleaning)

Mandatory wearing of facemasks when indoors

Social distancing reminders

  • 2-metre floor markings

  • Floor signs demonstrating a one-way movement systems

  • Separated tables in classrooms

Enhanced cleaning

Daily temperature checks (including specific temperature stations for each year group and all staff and Thermal Cameras)

All visotors are required to show either a valid PCR/Antigen Result (3 day) or the Covid Pass (AdaPass) issued by the TRNC Government.

Specific entrances and exits have been allocated for different year-groups to minimize crowing. Break and lunch times have also been staggered, with each year group being assigned a different playground area and classroom space, to ensure they remain within their social bubble. We are fortunate to have a beautiful and spacious campus, providing students with the opportunity for outdoor learning and to maximize social distancing.
